Hey guys,
I will be hosting a CHL tournament. Here's how it will work:
We will have a minimum of 2 teams from each CHL league (WHL, OHL, QMJHL) with a maximum of 8 per league. Teams will be seeded based on the most recent real life playoffs. The first round will be a round robin where every team faces every team in their league twice (Home and Away).
The final standings of each league will determine the playoff bracket. The top team from each league will compete in the CHL playoffs. A wildcard knockout mini-tournament will then take place.
This tournament will consist of the remaining teams in each round robin group. This mini-knockout will be run in the same manner as the NHL playoffs. The winner of each group will then move on to the "CHL Playoff Qualification round". The team with the best record through the round robin series will earn a bye (a tiebreaker will be played if nessacary) and then the other two teams will face each other. The winner of that game will face the number 1 team, and the winner of the qualifier will move on to be the fourth and final team in the CHL Playoffs.
The four teams in the CHL Playoffs will be placed into one group, and the remainder of the teams entered in the tournament are now eliminated. The teams in the playoffs will face each other twice (Home and Away) in a second round robin tournament. The results of this round robin will act as seeding for the final elimination. Seed 1 will face Seed 4, and 2 will face 3. The losers of those games will face off for 3rd place, while the winners will face off for the championship.
